AsiaCALL was incorporated in Korea and is an organization registered with the Korea Research Foundation (Code Number KRF 8A0245).
The Founding President of AsiaCALL is Professor Dr. Larry Chong, a professor at Gyeongju University, R.O.K.. Professor Chong created AsiaCALL and organized the first AsiaCALL conference from 3-5 April 2002. The conference theme was "Information Technology and University Instruction in Asia". The conference was hosted in conjunction with Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok.
Since then AsiaCALL has held an International Conference every year (with two exceptions: 2004 and 2016), in various countries such as China, India, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam.
In 2008, IndiaCALL was created as an affiliate of AsiaCALL and in 2009 IndonesiaCALL was added.
In 2011, AsiaCALL secured Affiliate status with IALLT (The International Association for Language Learning Technology), and is looking forward to establishing further cooperation with other associations in the field.
In 2020-2021, AsiaCALL signed a contract with Atlantis Press for publications of the Conference proceedings. All proceedings-papers will be indexed in ISI/Web of Science. Accordingly, some papers will be published in the AsiaCALL Online Journal (acoj) depending on the authors' wishes.
